Hank Aaron Career Accomplishments:
Hank Aaron set the all-time major league record for home runs in a career (755) through consistent rather than spectacular play. Starting in 1954 with the Milwaukee Braves, Hammerin’ Hank put up quality numbers year in and year out. In addition to his home run record, he also set major league career records for total bases, extra-base hits, and runs batted in. He won a World Series with the Braves in 1957, earning the National League Most Valuable Player Award the same year. With his quick-wristed hitting style, Aaron became the first player with at least 500 home runs to also get 3,000 hits. He won three Gold Gloves for his play in right field and was named to a record 24 All-Star Games. When the Braves moved to Atlanta, Aaron went with them. It was there that he made his mark on history, when on April 8, 1974, he hammered his 715th home run, surpassing the legendary Babe Ruth and breaking a record many thought might never be broken. Hank Aaron finished his career with the Milwaukee Brewers, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982, and was named to Baseball’s All-Century Team in 1999.
